Finding Balance

Going back to work has caused me to reevaluate some of my priorities.  Life has just gotten too busy for me to try to be supper mom.  Not that I was before, but I did try harder.  Sometimes I worry that I am having to give up too much of the things I used to do with my kids, but on the other hand they are getting older and have other interests now.  What I am learning is I can't keep up with all the traditions we used to have, but I need to figure out which ones I wont let go. This year I completely forgot about Loy Krathong, and that is something I hope never to do again as that is very important to me and to instilling a sense of pride in my children's birth country.  I also didn't have a spooky dinner on Halloween and I wont be having the kids friends over this year to make gingerbread houses.  I did however help the kids make pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving and we are continuing our tradition of reading a different Christmas book every night.  I just hope that I am providing my children with a happy childhood that they will look back fondly on and I am pretty sure that I am only time will tell.
