Gingerbread Houses

Friday was an exciting day in the Kirby household. To begin with we woke up to a blanket of snow! This was Khims first snow, so the kids were excited to teach her all about snowballs and snowmen. Unfortunately there wasn't much time before school :( After school I watched the girls walk home from the bus through the window, the entire way they were making snowballs and throwing them at a very nice 5th grade girl who walks with them everyday. I was worried that they were bothering her and was just going to say something she stopped and stood still so that they could actually hit her with a snowball.

The real excitement came when their friends arrived after school to make gingerbread houses. We had somewhere around 10 kids maybe more I lost count all making gingerbread houses and eating lots of candy and frosting. Khim even had a friend over from the neighborhood to make one. Chet was too excited about the snow to be bothered with making a house, so he and his friend stayed outside the entire time playing. As kids finished up their houses some of them joined Chet outside while others went to play in the basement. What would I do without a basement, although I haven't ventured down there yet to check out the damage. I think everyone had a good time and the houses turned out nice.
