Reflections Update

Back in the Fall Chet entered the PTA Reflections Contest. He submitted a photograph that he took in Thailand. The theme for the contest was My Favorite Place, Chet said his favorite place was his birth country. Well Chet's photo was passed on from the school level to the district level, then onto the state level. At the state level they choose 10 honorable mentions, from those they narrow it down to 5 semi-finalists out of the five they choose one winner. Well Chet made it to the semi-finalist level. (I think he should have won, but I am his mother). Anyway because he made it to the semi-finalist level he was invited to attend a special banquet at the PTA convention this past Sunday. Luckily it was is town so we were able to attend. The guest speaker was an astronaut, Joe Tanner. He put on a nice presentation about what it is like to go on a shuttle mission, and what NASA is working on to get us to the moon again and then onto Mars. Of course this is what Chet wants to do, so he was just riveted to the presentation. I enjoyed the presentation and seeing all the other entries. Chet is already excited about entering next year. The theme for next year is "I can make a difference" Should be interesting to see what he comes up with.
