First Kiss

The other day Nel came home from school and said "I have something to tell you." This always gets my attention, because it usually means she has done something she isn't supposed to, so I sat down next to her to hear what she had to say. It turns out that during lunch a boy from another Kindergarten class came up and kissed her. First he kissed her on her back and then when she turned around he kissed her on the check. Nel has known this boy since last year at preschool, his brother was in her class. He is from Vietnam and has very limited English and other than saying Hi I have never really heard him talk. He has always followed Nel around during recesses and I think he just wants to be her friend but doesn't know how to go about it. I asked if anyone saw him do it, Nel said the only other person who saw it was her friend Clara who immediately teased that were getting married. Nel took it all in stride and told Clara that she wasn't getting married until she finished college. So we talked about what to do if it happens again, and who it is okay to kiss and who it isn't okay to kiss. I can't believe how early boy issues are starting I was hoping we had a few more years at least before we had to deal with kissing.
