We just arrived home from a 3 week long summer vacation to Montana. We are all really worn out and still need to unpack, but I decided to take a few minuets and update our blog. Our trip started with a three day drive to Montana. On the way we decided to stop at Mt. Rushmore, Chet really wanted to see it after a friend did a report on it in his class this year. The kids did a great job in the car, but
we were all glad to make it to Grandma and Grandpa's cabin. Of course the first thing the kids wanted to do was swim. A few days after we arrived my sister and her family made it and the kids really started having fun. Nel and Chet both went water skiing, using the special trainer skis. The kids loved hanging out with the older boys and the older boys were very nice to let them. One of their favorite activities to do together was catching crayfish. Soon it was time to say good-bye to Rob as he left for a work conference. Then a few days latter the kids, Grandma and Grandpa and myself left for Seattle to attend the Thai Family Reunion. Its a get together that is held every two years for Thai adoptive families and social works from Thailand and U.S. adoption agencies. It was great fun to get to meet all the families and the kids loved playing with all the other kids. On of the highlights for the kids was the day they
brought in Reptile man. He had many snakes, alligators and a tortoise that the kids could ride on. In addition to Reptile man we did some sightseeing in downtown Seattle at Pike Street Market and the Space Needle.
My favorite part was the night we spent at the Thai Temple. It started off with the monks preforming a special ceremony where the blessed the children and wished them a happy life. Then we did a group photo and ate a Thai meal and watched some of the Thai dance class students preform. I wished we lived closer to a temple like this I know Nel would love to take dance class and I would like to h
ave the entire family take Thai language lessons.

Katie was sad to leave Seattle and Chet wanted to know when the next Reunion would be, so I guess we will be headed to Portland in two years. Rob came back after we returned and enjoyed a few more days at the lake before we had to go home. Our time was busy with swimming, kayaking, and hiking. Rob took Chet on an all day hike and camp out. They had great fun together, Chet found an arrowhead and Rob a skull (not sure of what).
While Rob and Chet were gone the girls and I spent time visiting with extended family. Then all to quickly our time came to an end and we had to pack up and head for home. The strangest thing happened on the way home. We stopped at a little state park in Iowa to camp on night, when the girls and I headed to the bathroom to brush our teeth there was the mother of one of Chet's friends from school. Turns out they were heading out to Yellowstone and we just happened to both stop at the same campground, what a small world.
