Gotcha Day

Today we celebrated Gotcha Day. For those of you not familiar with the adoption world, Gotcha Day is the day that you received your child. For us we celebrate the day that we arrived home from Thailand with our children. For Chet that was 6 years ago today, for Katie and Nel it will be 4 years ago tomorrow. I can't believe it has been that long it seems like yesterday. We celebrated in our usual manner, looked at pictures, watched the videos and went out for Thai food. This year we were joined by Grandma and Grandpa Kirby and we gave the kids a photo story of their beginnings in Thailand to hang in their rooms.

  2. Hello, Kirby Family,
    Happy (belated) Gotcha Day!
We are in the process of adopting from Thailand (hopefully we'll have our dossier ready for certification this week) and we noticed your blog. What a fun family! We're in southern Wisconsin, and as there's not a large Thai population here, we were wondering if you have found any groups of Thai people that have social events in Illinois? We look forward to teaching our child as much as we can about their home country, but we don't know where to start. Thanks! Robin

  3. Glad you found our blog and best of luck with your adoption. There are lots of Thai's in our community and many events through the University. We have also hosted an exchange student from Thailand which was a wonderful experience and a great way to learn more about Thailand.
